KIIT Retains its Position among Top Indian Universities

 There is no doubt that Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT), named KIIT University earlier, is one of the most esteemed and prestigious universities to get a degree in engineering from. It has recently ranked as one of the top 30 institutes among all institutes in India. However, not many aspirants know about the vast history of this institute and how it became one of the greatest engineering colleges. Founding story

KIIT was founded by Achyuta Samanta, P.K. Mishra and C.R. Mishra. They always wanted this university to be known as one of the greatest engineering colleges in India but only had two faculty members and 12 students to start with. With time, this school further spread across several subjects and increased its population steadily. Now it has a twelve landscaped 700-acre campus, with each campus specialising in a particular academic program.




How can you get admitted?

You can get admission to both postgraduate and undergraduate programs here, which are done through an internal entrance examination known as KIITEE. However, admissions to MTech programs are only granted through GATE.

That said, for the newer courses like journalism, law, film studies and sculpturing, the admissions are made based on the merit of their previous qualifying examinations. Any relevant additional experience can also help better your chances of getting admitted.

Accreditations and rankings

KIIT has been accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council, in which it scored 3.48 points out of a total of 4 and got an A grade. KIIT is also a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities.

Internationally, the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology is considered to be one of the top 300 schools as per the QS University Rankings BRICS University Rankings of 2019. However, nationally, the university has been able to achieve a rank of 42 by the NIRF in engineering colleges and 24th amongst all other universities.
